Hello, everyone. I’d like to show you one of my latest models, an AMM named “ENGHIEN” from the 1st RMSM (Reconnaissance Unit of the 2nd French Armored Division) at Sainte-Pôle on November 17, 1944.
The 1/72 AMM8 is from Italeri, featuring a dedicated Hauler photo-etched sheet and wheels from the now-defunct Calibre 72 brand (between us, what a shame that no one has taken over their catalog!). The decals are from Braillestrike. The diorama is homemade, using just the shutters from a Dan ModelWorks photo-etched sheet and a MiniArt gutter. The main figure comes from the excellent Dynamo Models range, and the others are from no-name 3D prints. The geese are from Firma 49.
The story, and especially the anecdote, was inspired by reading the logbook of Roger Marion, from the same squadron, while researching details about the AMM8 ENGHIEN:
“11/17/1944, At Sainte Pôle, orphaned geese are gathered on the rear deck of ‘Banban’s’ (Masson d’Authume) AMM8.”
=> This is therefore the AMM8 Enghien, based on the names of its crew.
“November 22, 1944, At Marmoutier [...] a 50-caliber anti-tank gun awaits us and, with an explosive shell, destroys the front left wheel of the AM driven by ‘Papa’ Wion. Like the geese of the Capitol, the geese of Sainte Pôle cry out on the rear deck.”
=> This is again the Enghien, and still with its geese five days later!
